African Daisy Wreath #1037 from EdMar.  Maria created this design for a friend of mine many years ago.   The graceful oval is nice to add names and/or date for a commemorative occasion.  The large African Daisy uses Nova and Lola;  the Creeping flowers use Lola, the Geron is Iris thread;  use Nova for the Palestrina knot border, the greenery is Iris ( allow 2 skeins ) and Glory.   Have some brown or yellow Glory handy for the Creeping flowers and Field flower French knots.  Design size is   10″  X 11″

Alpine Rose Garden #57 Another Threads in Bloom  retired, coming out of retirement to be determined.   All stitch instructions can be found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book by Maria Freitas. Flower and bee instructions are enclosed. Notice some petals and leaves have fallen to the ground. Argyle – a Huck – aka Swedish Weaving design. The design package includes the Argyle chart instructions for finishing into a bookmark. Clear plastic bookmark sleeve with tassel are included in the package. This design is also suitable for a Gift Card (see Accessories department for Gift Cards) or as an inset on a hand towel. Using 14ct Aida the design is approx 2.5 inch wide. You can stitch it as long as you need. Aida or thread are not included in the package giving you the opportunity to choose your favorite colors or use some of those bits and pieces you have in your stash.  I use a cotton floss to stitch, such as DMC, Gentle Arts or Threadworx for some really fun colors and color variations.

BE Rolled Rose Biscornu ~ 2214 Biscornus are interesting little eight-sided cushions that can be used for pincushions whether for jewelry or sewing. The word biscornu is derived from a French adjective meaning skewed quirky or irregular. Biscornu is basically made from two embroidered squares sewn together at points; the corner of one square meets the middle of the other as the two pieces are whip stitched together then stuffed it creates the quirky skewed pillow. You will find them very easy to assemble

Beginner kit ~ Rings of Enchantment ~ #2214BK This Beginner kit includes: fabric print design, Art of Dimensional book, 10 full skeins of thread needed for stitching this design plastic thread organizer and skein threader; package of assorted size Milliner needles and the large #15 Milliner needle are included in package. Bird of Paradise #2182 Inspired by a trip to Hawaii for our 40th anniversary. I just had to paint this dramatic flower in thread. By using Brazilian Embroidery and Stumpwork I was able to layer petals. There are only 3 stitches to achieve these precise petals: stem bullion and buttonhole. Threads you will need ~ Lola 308 and 121; Iris 308 ( 2 skeins) 230 ( 2 skeins) 149 207 130 and 407; Glory 122 and 157; Nova 121 and 207. EdMar rayon thread is not included in pkg. Birthday Bouquet ~ #2105  Birthday Bouquet design was inspired by a birthday card I received from some very special friends.  Be reminded of your special friends as you stitch this piece.  This design is on my ‘favorites’ list.  You will stitch Rolled Roses, Thrift flowers ( those cute little heart shape flowers )  Berry flowers, Princess flowers, Dandy Puffs, Maria’s Rose and a fun little butterfly.  Stitches used:  stem leaves, buttonhole, couching, French knots, bullion and cast-on.  EdMar colors I used:  Lola #007, 99; Iris #99;  Frost #10 and 171; Glory #59, 99, 114, 171, 207.   Other supplies:   Kreinik #8 braid color #26 – amethyst  (  or Glory 407 )  Mill Hill glass beads #62039  or other brand in a frosted creme shade.   You will want your Milliner needles #3, 5 ,7 and 9 or 10 to place the beads;  also the large Milliner #15.  Stitch and most flower instructions are in Art of Dimensional Embroidery by Maria Frietas – additional instruction included.   Design size  6″ X 7″

Blowin’ in the Wind ~ is a free Brazilian Embroidery design from Threads in Bloom, you can print it to trace onto your fabric to stitch. There are only 4 different easy stitches: Stem, satin, Lazy Daisy and French knots. It uses only 3 EdMar threads: Iris and Glory  (I used #50) and Cire´ (I used # 323).

Brazilian Embroidery motifs #2231 ~ the first in a series of  motifs for book marks for minature cards.  Each is approx  1.5 X 2″.  In this first set of the series there is an Iris flower and Picot flower (Cast-on)  These little motifs take only about an hour to stitch and another 5-10 minutes to complete the book mark, using double sided tape and a dab of glue.  Included in the package are patterns, pictures and instructions for the two motifs, two  6X6″ pieces of fabric to trace the pattern, 2 book marks with an oval cut out to show your embroidery.  The book marks are folded like a card to enclose the embroidery for a nice finish and 2 clear cellophane flap close envelopes to make a nice gift of your book mark.  Stitch and flower instructions are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book, by Maria Frietas.  Each book mark has printed proverb ‘Friends are the flowers in the garden of life’

California Rose Bouquet ~ #54 This design has been recently replanted with the new colors. A pretty bow is stitched with Herringbone stitch using Iris 106; the California Rose buds are with Nova the new red & purple #318 which I am growing very fond of and Glory 113; choose a pretty green that you may have a few extra strands of ( I used 80 ) in Lola and Glory; a couple strands of the red and purple for Field flowers. California Rose bud is wrapped cast-on and bullions. Use the new #15 Milliner needle ( find in the needle department ) for the Nova cast-on petals. EdMar rayon thread is not included in pkg. Color Me #2223 ~ by Threads in Bloom.  Looking for an excuse to get your  own box of Crayons ?   Here it is.  Pick your favorite color to color your vase.  ( the Crayon Carousel is  loaded with the basics and some fun pearls and metallics ).  Outline the vase with matching color or you may want to go wild with a fun contrasting color; then add a colorful bouquet with Iris, Rolled Roses, Cast-on, stems of stock and greenery. Dancing Iris ~ #2206 One of my favorite flowers to design with and to stitch is the Iris flower… I love this little design.  The Iris does appear to be dancing;  the outstretched leaves are her arms, a ballerina.  Stitch and flower instructions are available in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book by Maria Freitas. English Rose & Hummingbirds ~ 1606 by EdMar. A beautiful picture from nature. You will believe you are looking into a tree in the Secret Garden with lovely creamy English Roses and the detail of the greenery there is a Hummingbird and look there in a nest are 3 babies waiting to be fed. The Stumpwork wing gives you the visual of the Hummingbird hovering over the nest. Stitch instructions are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book additional instructions are enclosed in the design package. Fuchsia & Butterfly ~ 2173 A design of Brazilian Dimensional embroidery and Stumpwork. Use wire to shape the butterfly leaf and 3 stand away petals. A silk ribbon calyx adds another texture to this very dimensional design. Stitch stem couching leaves French knots pistil bullions cast-on satin and buttonhole. Stitch instructions are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book. Details for stitch use is enclosed with the fabric print design backing fabric fabric for the detached work wire and silk ribbon. Grandiose Mum #011 ~ Whether you call it Royal or Grand the Mum is definitely magnificent. Bullions range from 15 to over 100 wraps giving graceful curves to the petals and a lot dimension. Instructions to easily make these long bullions are included in the design package with the printed fabric design. I had to look it up, never hearing of this plant.  I thought it looked like Wheat, except for the green.  Grevillea uses:  Glory  #202, 209, 230 & 323; Iris #053, & 128; Lola #305 and Frost #122.   Package includes printed fabric and complete instructions.  Design size    2.5 X 4.75″

Hummingbird & Fuchsia ~ #2103    A design being revisited, from a few years ago, it remains one of my favorites.  Just about everyone likes Hummingbird.  My tiny bird with a Stump work technique ‘in flight’ wing is about to get some sweet nectar from a colorful Fuchsia.  Stitch instructions are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book, by Maria Freitas.  Flower and Hummingbird instructions are included with petite bead for the eye, #9 or 10 milliner needle, wire and felt needle lace pad to work the wing on.  The ‘in flight’ wing is really quite easy to stitch.  Design size is 6″ X 7″   Stitches are   stem, leaves, couching, bullion, cast-on, detached buttonhole, buttonhole and French knots.   EdMar thread I used:  Lola #215 and #315;  Iris #50, 130, 131 and 315;  Ciré $328;  Nova #143  and Glory #50, 206 and 328.

Hydi ~ 2197 Notice the little worm nibbling on the leaf . Brazilian Embroidery and Stump work. Hydrangea is a mix of colors on one huge lovely bloom. Stitches used: stem couching French knots buttonhole bullion and straight. Stitch instructions are found in “Art of Dimensional Embroidery” by Maria Freitas additional instructions are enclosed with wire for Stump work leaves and butterfly. Its-a-Belle #2216 ~ This is a design I taught one year at the Nordic Needle Stitcher’s Retreat.  One of my best friends, Isabelle, collects bells, this was also for her.  To be taught for beginners in Brazilian Embroidery with a sample of Stumpwork.  You will stitch:  stem stitch, couching, French knots, Cast-on, bullions and buttonhole.  Use Lola, Iris, Nova, Ciré  and Glory with beads for the berries and the bell clapper.  EdMar threads I used:  Lola – 054, 153; Nova #153; Iris #50; Ciré #125 and Glory #50, 006, 113 and 153.  Glass beads are included in the design package with wire for the Stumpwork leaf.  Stitch and flower instructions are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book, by Maria Frietas .  Additional instructions included with printed fabric design.  Design size  approx  4X5″

Just Picked #63 Imagine you just came in from your flower garden with this basket of Just Picked lovely flowers. Can you smell the fragrance? This is a nice sampler of stitches and texture. Stitch and flower instructions ( except for the yellow Asters ) are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery by Maria Freitas. Instructions for Asters are enclosed using a Punch Needle. Instructions for using Punch Needle are in Punch Needle package when purchased. It is easy and fun if you have not experienced Punch Needle. Design size 8

Leaves book includes the fabric print design.  An exercise of 13 different leaves with suggestions for more.  Give your arrangements more variety.  Book has comb binding to lie flat.  All leaves were stitched with Iris thread.  The fine, new growth was stitched with Glory thread.      Maybe as we use this book to give the leaves the attention they deserve, we will be reminded to do the same for our personal ‘leaves’.

Madison ~ #2169 A stylized frame you can add a verse names dates or a picture in the center. Little beads accent the scalloped edge of the frame with eye catching Madison Rose flowers around the inner edge that spring to life in this lovely design. The frame gives you some practice with satin stitch (allow 2 skeins of Iris 172 ); the bullion scallop edge is Lola #172. Madison Rose flowers are bullions and cast-on stitch with Lola #301 and 400; other EdMar thread I used: Iris 413; Glory #172 218 and 413. Mary’s St John’s Wort Bouquet #2218 ~  A friend, Mary, ask me to create a design with a St. John’s Wort for her to teach at the Brazilian Embroidery Seminar, this is the design I created.  The petals are padded with felt, covered with long & short satin stitches; the center is a Cat’s eye glass bead, with loops around the bead ( included in the design package with Gentle Arts floss)  Other flowers included in the bouquet are:  Iris flower, Kalmia and Double row Picot – all with variations of Cast-on stitch.  Stitch and flower instructions are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book and Apples to Zinnias, both by Maria Frietas. Mendocino Butterfly and Roses ~ 2203 Inspired by a Butterfly fluttering around some roses in my back yard; I knew I wanted the roses bold yet frilly. The Butterfly had to be irridescent. Miss Tia Potts ~ #2220 Introducing the star of the season Miss Tia Potts. Everyone will be talking about her with the Swarovski crystal jewels her stylish silk and Japan red around her middle. Look at those lovely bright flowers to cheer the season. You really must stitch Miss Tia Potts she is the socialite of the year. Miss Tia Potts design package does include the Swarovski crystals Kreinik Serica silk and Kreinik Japan red thread. Opposites fit Together ~ #2226 My version of Yin Yang.   Did you know the Symbol Yin Yang  represents the ancient Chinese understanding of how things work ?  Palestrina knot stitched with Lola (#71) encircles and divides the sides; flowers are stitched with Lola (#135) using bullions, cast-on and wrapped cast-on, the centers are with Glory #114;  greenery is Iris #50 (allow 2 skeins) and Glory #50.  Stitch instructions are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery by Maria Freitas; flower instructions are enclosed with the fabric print design.  Design size is 4.75″

Romantic Heart ~ #65 Rolled Roses are one of my favorite flowers to stitch. I prefer to stitch Rolled Roses  with Ciré with mini roses stitched with Glory.  Cascades of ‘fern’ assist to form the heart.  The fern is stitched with cotton overdye Threadworx floss, included in the design package with the fabric print design.  Stitch and flower instructions are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery, in the book department.  EdMar thread I used:  Iris #50; Glory #45 & 409; Ciré # 409     Design size 5″ X 5″

Roses and Ribbons ~#2179 The focus of a zippered clutch bag. Pattern and instructions for completing the clutch is included with 2 transferable patterns. (fabric is not included in this package) Stitch instructions may be found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book by Maria Freitas. Use of stitches is enclosed. EdMar thread I used: Ribbon is Glory 313 – you will need one skein; greenery is Iris and Glory #53; flowers are Lola #004 and 008; and Glory #409. Serenity ~ N62 A fun “Evening” design not only quick to stitich also easy. This time I stitched it with one of my favorite flowers – Camellia. Serenity is the perfect size for a “gift” card or small frame. It will make a lovely sachet pillow to. Threads I used: Iris and Glory #51; Lola #134; Glory #407 & 220. I have included Threadworx  cotton floss in the design package with the fabric print. Other nice Camellia colors are white #000; whisper shaded fuchsia #18; #135 soft pink or #43 light fuchsia. EdMar rayon Brazilian embroidery thread is not included in design pkg. Sonoma ~ Iris and Autumn Rose an abstract cirlce features two size of Iris; one stitched with Ciré, the others with Nova.  Autumn Rose uses Lola & Glory. Stitches used; stem, satin, French knot, bullion and cast-on.    Stitch instructions may be found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book, by Maria Freitas, along with the Iris Flower instructions.  Autumn Rose is a Threads in Bloom flower, instructions are enclosed in this package with the printed fabric design.

Three Jasmines ~ One of EdMar’s little single flower motif.  It is the perfect size to frame in one of the gift cards ( in the necessities department of E-store )  I refer to this design as a good Starter kit, since it has stem stitch, couching, leaves, bullion, cast-on, pistil and French knots – all into this one little design.  This is a complete little kit with the fabric printed design, instructions, needle and thread.  A nice way to introduce yourself or friend with Brazilian Embroidery.

To Begin With and Butterfly ~ uses all basic Brazilian Embroidery stitches plus some easy Stump Work techniques. I have stitched with five of the seven weights / types of EdMar thread. This design was developed for the beginning class I taught at our local Jr. College however it also has interest for an experienced stitcher. Stitch instructions and some flower instructions are found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book by Maria Freitas. Other instructions are enclosed with: fabric print design muslin backing wire and prepared bonded fabric for stitching detached petals and Butterfly. Design 6″ x 4″

Trillium ~ #10 Brazilian Embroidery and Stump work. I like the way Stump work and Brazilian Embroidery compliment each other. Here Stump work is stitched on separate fabric from the design. There are 2 stitches used for the petals: Buttonhole and satin. The shape ( petal leaf etc. ) is formed with a piece of wire; after stitching cut around the edge of the wire and attached to your design piece. The wire frame allows you to shape and contour your petal giving dimensional life to your needle art. The greenery is stem stitch and satin. Trillium design package includes the printed fabric design additional fabric for the detached petals wire and instructions for the Stump work Trillim. Wedding Wreath / Anniversary Heart ~#1019 comes on a 12″ X 14″ fabric and the design is 7.5″ X 6.5″. Cream color fabric.  A lovely design alone or to frame names, dates or verses.  Good size for a pillow.  Instructions are included in design package.

Zinnia Wreath ~ #2208 Zinnias are fun because you can stitch them in bright colors. I have made a wreath with hemp cord woven into the wreath.  And, it wouldn’t be complete without an iridescent Butterfly. Stitch instructions will be found in Art of Dimensional Embroidery book, by Maria Freitas.  Instructions for using the stitches to do the Zinnia and Butterfly are enclosed in the design package with the printed fabric design,  wire and fabric for the Stump Work Butterfly and the hemp cord.  Design is approx  6”
